## Description

Solformørkelsen 2026 is a Danish public science project focused on the solar eclipse visible from Denmark on 12 August. The initiative explains how a solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes in front of the Sun and shares what observers in Denmark could expect: a partial eclipse in which approximately 80–86% of the Sun’s disk was covered. The project also highlights the event’s wider path, where the eclipse was total in East Greenland, Iceland and Spain, and notes that Denmark will have to wait until 2048 for a similarly strong eclipse.

Through its website, Solformørkelsen 2026 offers information about the eclipse, events and activities, press material, and video content, including a live broadcast from 12 August. The project is led by Nordic Science Company and Tina Ibsen Formidling, in collaboration with science, education and cultural partners across Denmark. These include Experimentarium, Rundetaarn, Science Museerne and Videnskab.dk. Support comes from Carlsbergfondet, Leo Fondet and Nordea Fonden.
