Description
The Solutions Journalism Network (SJN) is a global network that trains and connects journalists to cover what's missing in today's news: how people are responding to problems. Their mission is to shape the world by focusing reporting on responses to problems and what we can learn from their successes and failures. By highlighting what's working, solutions journalism elevates the tone of public discourse, allows communities to see better options, and builds agency and hope, leading to meaningful change.
SJN supports entrepreneurial actors in spreading solutions journalism by providing training and financial support to journalists and newsrooms. They also gather solutions reporting from around the world and disseminate stories and insights through their searchable database, which includes stories from 1,900 news organizations. With 47,000 journalists trained and using SJN tools, 100 partner journalism schools, and institutional training partners across multiple continents, SJN has established a strong presence in the field.
Founded in 2013 by award-winning journalists David Bornstein, Tina Rosenberg, and Courtney Martin, SJN is committed to promoting solutions-focused reporting and driving innovation in journalism
