## Description

SOMICAN, the Cantabrian Mycological Society, is an association dedicated to sharing and promoting an interest in mycology in Cantabria. Since 1986, it has brought together people interested in fungi through educational activities, publications, and community events. Its programme includes seasonal courses, talks, and mycological gatherings, including the Cantabria Mycological Conference and local events such as the Luey Mycological Conference. The society also shares news and information about upcoming activities, helping members and visitors stay connected with its work.

SOMICAN’s resources include its Yesca magazine, a library, a catalogue of identified species, and archives related to mycological societies. Visitors can also explore photographs and videos, including recordings documenting the organisation’s activities. The website provides information about the society’s history, membership, and ways to make contact. Through its events and resources, SOMICAN supports learning and community engagement around the study of fungi in the region. Its long-running programme reflects a sustained commitment to making mycology accessible and encouraging people to participate in Cantabria’s mycological community.
