Special Olympics Minnesota is a brand that has been at the forefront of promoting inclusivity for individuals with intellectual disabilities for over 50 years. Their mission is to create a world where everyone has the opportunity to thrive, regardless of their abilities. Special Olympics Minnesota achieves this by offering year-round sports training, athletic competitions, inclusive healthcare programs, leadership and advocacy training, and inclusive school programs.

Contrary to common misconceptions, Special Olympics is not just a one-time event. It is a year-round movement that hosts 100 different events annually, ranging from sports competitions to health fairs. Their programs are available for people of all ages and abilities, with inclusive roles for volunteers, coaches, team assistants, athletes, and Unified partners.

In 2022 alone, Special Olympics Minnesota organized 41 local competitions, sent a delegation to the USA Games in Orlando, and provided healthcare screenings to over 5,700 athletes. They also expanded their Young Athletes program in northern Minnesota, benefiting over 200 participants.

Looking ahead to 2023, Special Olympics Minnesota is planning to celebrate their 50th anniversary and will host the 2026 USA Games. They will continue their focus on inclusive healthcare and providing more opportunities for athletes to compete and shine. Special Olympics Minnesota is dedicated to making a positive impact and fostering inclusivity for individuals with intellectual disabilities throughout Minnesota.
