## Description

Søndermarken is a private, self-governing residential institution in Slagelse, Denmark, specializing in support for adults with autism spectrum disorders. Its approach is individualized, with care and activities shaped around each resident’s identity, abilities, needs, and preferences. The institution provides a structured, predictable environment, supported by an experienced, consistent staff team and close relationships that help foster security and continuity.

Residents receive support to build a meaningful daily life, with clear routines and distinction between home, work, and leisure. Each resident has a form of work adapted to their abilities and daily capacity, usually on site, offering opportunities for responsibility and achievement. Physical activity is also an important part of the program, with tailored options such as running, cycling, nature walks, and exercise at a gym several times a week.

Set among woodland, fields, and recreational areas, Søndermarken emphasizes well-being, self-determination, responsibility, openness, and recognition. Its goal is to support residents’ development and quality of life while respecting individual differences. Municipalities from across Denmark refer residents to the institution.
