Soul Sessions Oslo is an organization dedicated to promoting hip-hop culture in Norway. We host a range of alcohol-free dance events, including jams, open practices, battles, workshops, panel talks, and lectures. Our goal is to make this incredible culture accessible to everyone, regardless of their experience or age. Founded in winter 2009 by Camilla Tellefsen and Mathias Jin Budtz, and later developed with Inger-Reidun Olsen, Soul Sessions Oslo has been organizing weekly trainings, monthly jams at The Villa, and the annual Soul Sessions Extended festival since 2010. In March 2016, we moved to Sentralen in central Oslo, becoming part of their program for children, youth, and professional dance artists. Our mission is to inspire Norwegian dancers, DJs, and artists in the street genre by providing a platform for self-improvement and development. We accomplish this by inviting some of the leading figures in their respective fields from both domestic and international scenes. Soul Sessions Oslo aims to bring together the hip-hop and street dance community in Norway and inspire the positive growth of street dance and its various styles. An important aspect of this mission is preserving the history of the culture. We strive to provide accurate information through transparency and by inviting workshop instructors who generously share their knowledge about the culture. Some notable international guests who have attended our events from 2009 to 2020 include Buddha Stretch (US), Suga Pop (US), Marjory (US), David Colas (FR), Didier Firmin (FR), R-Zo (FR), Renegade (UK), and many more.
