## Description

South-Side Dojo is a traditional martial arts school in Cookeville, Tennessee, serving students and families in the Upper Cumberland. Located on Highway 70 East, less than a mile from Interstate 40, the dojo offers instruction in Aikido and Kenpo Karate in a welcoming, beginner-friendly environment. Its instructors aim to help students build skills and work toward their personal goals through varied courses and teaching methods.

Aikido classes introduce a Japanese martial art centered on harmony. The adult program welcomes students aged 12 and older, including those with no previous experience or physical limitations, and is affiliated with Nashville Aikikai and the Aikido Schools of Ueshiba. Children’s classes are available for ages five and up, with a free first lesson. Kenpo Karate teaches practical, quick and powerful striking, movement, and responses to common attacks while retaining traditional Japanese roots.

The dojo provides separate children’s and adult class schedules, course information, news and updates, and gift cards. Prospective students can call to arrange a free trial lesson.
