About
Description
Welcome to the South Berwick Public Library, a cultural town commons where everyone can access a wide range of media that informs, educates, and entertains. Our library has a rich history, starting in 1970 when a group of concerned citizens established it to fill the void of a public library in South Berwick. Initially operating in a rented room, the library expanded over the years and now offers 36 hours of service per week.
Located in the heart of the historic district, our library was previously housed in the Jewett Eastman House, a building listed in the National Historic Registry. However, in 2012, the town purchased the former St. Michael’s Church and transformed it into a modern 21st-century library.
We provide a variety of programs, extensive digital resources, and a collection of up to 50 items for borrowing at a time. We also have public computers, Wi-Fi, printing and scanning services, as well as fax capabilities. Visit us today and explore the world of knowledge and entertainment we offer!
