## Description

South Dakota Drift (SD Drift) is a grassroots drifting organization based in Sturgis, South Dakota. Established in 2005, it brings drivers and fans together for party-style drift events at the Thunderdome, located at the Kickstart Travel Center three miles east of Sturgis. The venue has been the organization’s home track since 2011.

SD Drift’s season features four weekend rounds, including two Night Drift events, with daytime sessions and after-dark driving. Events include vehicle tech inspections, driver briefings and track time, creating an organized setting for participants to practice and enjoy drifting. The organization also shares schedules, rules and technical requirements, guidance for newcomers, registration information and profiles of its drivers.

Drivers must use rear-wheel-drive vehicles and be at least 18 years old. Registration is handled through NASA’s DrivenASA website or by contacting the organization directly. SD Drift is supported by local and regional sponsors and connects with its community through social media, event photography and its driver network.
