## Description

South Elmham Hall is a historic country estate in St Cross South Elmham, Suffolk, near the River Waveney and the market town of Harleston. Set within a four-acre moated landscape, the Grade I listed hall was once a medieval bishops’ palace, with heritage dating back to the 7th century. The estate also includes the ruins of South Elmham Minster, an 11th-century chapel, and Bateman’s Barn, a restored medieval barn adapted as a distinctive venue for weddings and other gatherings. The barn is licensed for wedding ceremonies.

The Sanderson family has lived and farmed at South Elmham Hall for three generations, caring for its historic buildings, landscape and wildlife. The rural land is managed organically with a focus on biodiversity and conservation. Visitors can book guided heritage walking tours for groups, exploring the historic site, Minster and fishponds; tours are arranged in advance. South Elmham Hall brings together heritage, hospitality and landscape, sharing the story of this historic estate while supporting the continued care of its treasured setting.
