## Description

Southend SEND Independent Forum (SSIF) is an independent forum supporting parent carers of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in Southend. Its aim is to make information about available services clearer and help families understand how to access support. The forum brings parent-carer experiences to discussions about local services, boards and decisions, acting as a critical friend to raise concerns and promote realistic, fair improvements. It shares information about decisions and their potential impact on families, and invites feedback so that local experiences can inform its work.

SSIF offers news, guidance, events and opportunities for families to share their views, including family feedback forms and ways to contribute to consultations on SEND-related issues. Its monthly Coffee & Chat gatherings provide parent carers with a welcoming space to meet, share experiences or simply connect; visiting professionals may also answer questions and signpost further support. Through these activities, the forum works to represent the collective voice of Southend parent carers and encourage positive change.
