Southern 500 Speedway, located just 10.33 km north of Portland along the Princess Highway, has been a cornerstone of Australian motorsport since its inception in 1955. Originally named "Hi Pine," this 370-meter banked clay oval has offered thrilling racing experiences for decades. Over the years, the venue has evolved, transitioning from its original dusty surface to becoming the first asphalt speedway in Australia in 1972. However, in the early 1980s, it returned to its dirt roots to cater to local drivers' needs, enhancing both track size and safety. 

Today, Southern 500 Speedway features a diverse range of racing classes, including Sprintcars, SuperRods, and Junior Sedans, making it a hotspot for racing enthusiasts. With spectator gates opening at 4 PM and racing commencing at 5 PM, visitors can enjoy exhilarating competition in a well-maintained facility known for its safety and modern upgrades. Supported by a dedicated team of 70 members, Southern 500 Speedway continues to be a vibrant community hub for motorsport aficionados.
