## Description

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Soziologie (DGS) is a professional association dedicated to sociology and the exchange of knowledge about society. It connects sociologists through specialist sections, committees, congresses, publications and information about research, professional opportunities and events. Its website shares news from the association and its sections, statements, developments in sociology, media coverage, international activity and sustainability initiatives.

The DGS organizes major academic congresses, including its 2026 meeting in Mainz and its 2028 congress in Leipzig, and supports scholarly discussion through calls for papers, funding information and awards. Its publications include the journal SOZIOLOGIE, featuring research and debate on subjects such as artificial intelligence in academia, democracy and social change. The association also makes congress contributions available through its publication platform, including open-access proceedings. Additional resources include a calendar, a job market, book announcements, the SozBlog, links and SocioHub. Based in Essen, the DGS serves as a hub for sociological research, professional exchange and public engagement.
