The Science Panel for the Amazon (SPA), founded on September 23, 2019, at the United Nations in New York, is the first regional high-level initiative dedicated to the Amazon rainforest. Launched in July 2020, the SPA consists of over 300 reputed scientists who merge Indigenous and local knowledge with Western scientific methodologies to address pressing issues in the Amazon.
