## Description

The Spaceguard Centre, located in Knighton, Powys, UK, serves as the National Near Earth Objects Information Centre (NNEOIC) and is dedicated to addressing the risks posed by Near Earth Objects (NEOs), including asteroids and comets that can potentially impact Earth. Founded in 2001 and directed by Jonathan R. Tate, this unique observatory aims to provide timely, accessible information to the public, media, and educational institutions about NEO threats and the technology available for mitigation.

In addition to research, the Spaceguard Centre offers educational programs for primary schools, secondary schools, and colleges, making astronomy engaging and understandable for visitors of all ages. The Centre is funded primarily through admission fees, which support maintenance and utilities, while local sponsors and donations contribute to special projects like DRAX. Open Wednesday to Sunday, the Spaceguard Centre welcomes visitors to explore the wonders of the universe and gain insights into the critical field of asteroid impact research.
