With a team of approximately 180 professionals and 220 voluntary observers, RMI operates from its sites in Uccle and Dourbes, ensuring comprehensive coverage and accurate data collection. The institute plays a crucial role in providing weather forecasts, issuing warnings for potentially damaging weather events such as thunderstorms and heatwaves, and offering official certificates for damage claims to insurance companies.

In addition to real-time weather data, RMI also engages in climate research, studying critical topics like the ozone layer, meteorological satellites, and numerical weather predictions. It actively supplies climatological information to various stakeholders, including researchers, disaster funds, and companies. RMI is committed to public service excellence through research, innovation, and a focus on quality and environmental standards, aiming to empower its staff and contribute significantly to the field of meteorology.
