## Description

Sparrow Ascent is a wearable treatment from Spark Biomedical, Inc., designed to help relieve opioid withdrawal symptoms through transcutaneous auricular neurostimulation (tAN®). FDA-cleared and available in the United States by prescription, the device uses mild electrical pulses rather than medication. It is intended for use alongside standard symptomatic medication and other withdrawal therapies, under the supervision of trained clinical personnel.

The treatment is presented as non-addictive and drug-free, with a design intended to give patients control over therapy and the flexibility to use it at home or in care settings. Prescriptions are available through telehealth providers, and the company helps people find providers for treatment. Sparrow Ascent may also be incorporated into inpatient or outpatient care, where additional behavioral health support or medication may be appropriate.

Spark Biomedical provides educational resources, patient guidance, and information for clinicians, including demonstrations of the device and its earpiece. The company reports that 84% of study participants experienced mild to no withdrawal symptoms after 60 minutes of therapy, and 100% had a clinically meaningful reduction by day three.
