## Description

The Spartanburg Music Trail celebrates the musicians and musical heritage of Spartanburg, South Carolina. Presented by the Spartanburg Philharmonic, the trail is an outdoor walking experience that guides visitors through the city’s music history. Its approximately 30-minute route features signposts where visitors can learn about local artists and listen to music that helped bring them national or international recognition. The honorees represent a broad range of genres, including country, gospel, soul, rock ’n’ roll, blues, and Southern rock. Visitors can also explore suggested side trips and discover stories behind well-known songs and performers, including the Marshall Tucker Band and other influential music makers. The trail was organized in 2011 with the leadership of the nonprofit Hub City Writers Project, drawing inspiration from Peter Cooper’s book Hub City Music Makers. Supported by OneSpartanburg, Inc. and the City of Spartanburg, the project plans to expand its route around downtown as new inductees are added. Its map, music-maker profiles, venue information, and nomination resources help visitors engage with the region’s lasting musical legacy.
