About

Description

Speedway is a convenience store and gas station chain based in the United States. It has its headquarters in Enon, Ohio. Speedway was founded in 1959 by Tony Rouse, who opened the first store in East Chicago, Indiana.

Over the years, Speedway has grown exponentially through acquisitions and mergers. In 1978, it became a subsidiary of Marathon Petroleum Corporation, one of the largest independent refining companies in the US. Speedway offers a range of products and services to its customers.

In addition to fuel, it provides a variety of convenience items, including snacks, beverages, groceries, and automotive products. Many Speedway stores also have attached Dunkin' Donuts franchises, offering customers coffee and baked goods. On a global scale, Speedway operates primarily in the United States.

However, it does have a few noteworthy international operations. In 2016, Speedway acquired the Hess Retail Holdings, which included over 1,200 stores in 16 states along the East Coast, as well as a presence on the St. Croix, St.

Thomas, and St. John islands in the U. S.

Virgin Islands. In terms of market position, Speedway is one of the largest convenience store chains in the United States, with over 4,000 locations across 33 states. It competes with other major players in the industry such as 7-Eleven, Circle K, and Wawa.

Speedway's strong presence and wide coverage allow it to cater to a large customer base, contributing to its market position and sales. Speedway has achieved various milestones and changes throughout its history. In 2017, Speedway completed the rebranding of all of its locations from the former Hess brand to Speedway.

This rebranding effort aimed to consolidate the company's operations under one unified brand. Additionally, Speedway has made strategic acquisitions to expand its presence and strengthen its market position. As of the latest available information, Speedway continues to grow and expand its operations.

The company regularly updates its offerings to cater to the evolving needs of its customers. Its strong market position and extensive network of stores make Speedway a prominent player in the convenience store and gas station industry in the United States
