## Description

Speel-o-theek ’t Gooi is a volunteer-run toy library in Huizen, the Netherlands, offering toys for people of all ages to borrow, try at home and return. Located inside the library at Plein 2000, it works much like a book library, but its collection is designed to support children’s learning and development. The organisation believes toys can stimulate, encourage and motivate children, and gives particular attention to children and adults who may temporarily need extra support.

Its broad assortment includes toys and activities that develop social skills, motor abilities and cognitive skills. Examples include writing and number-learning kits, letter and word games, outdoor science activity cards, and a walking aid for toddlers. Items are presented with age guidance and information about skills they encourage, such as concentration, language, logic, coordination and movement.

Visitors can browse the collection, reserve toys and renew loans through the service. Speel-o-theek ’t Gooi also shares information about membership, lending rates and opening hours, and welcomes prospective volunteers. The lending service is open to everyone.
