## Description

Project S.P.H.E.R.E. is an independent, pre-launch research initiative exploring whether an object’s location can affect its resonant frequency. Its proposal challenges the standard view that resonance depends on an object’s material, shape, temperature and surroundings, but not where it is. The team plans to test the hypothesis using matching hollow copper spheres, a shielded, temperature-controlled setup, sensitive instruments and blinded analysis. The project is at the planning stage: no measurements have been made, and the idea remains unproven.

S.P.H.E.R.E. shares research resources, including a draft protocol, whitepaper, FAQ, research journal and an interactive virtual lab simulation. The simulation lets visitors explore equipment such as a thermal-vacuum chamber, vector network analyzer and laser vibrometer; it is educational and does not present experimental measurements. The proposed work is planned in three funding phases, beginning with an estimated $86,000 for expert review, equipment and an initial test, with a projected total budget of up to about $2.1 million. Fundraising has not opened.
