## Description

SPIEM is a Portuguese society dedicated to research in mathematics education. It brings together work and activities focused on the teaching and learning of mathematics, and shares information with educators and the wider research community. Its website presents the society, its statutes, contact details, membership information, partners, and privacy policy.

SPIEM supports professional and academic exchange through the Encontro de Investigação em Educação Matemática (EIEM), Atlantic Webinars, and a summer school organised with Spain’s SEIEM. Its activity plan outlines upcoming initiatives, including a series of Atlantic Webinars in 2026. The society also publishes SPIEM NEWS, archives of EIEM proceedings, opinions, and other publications. Its news includes commentary on mathematics learning standards, announcements about conferences, and updates on research journals and calls for papers. Through these resources and events, SPIEM helps circulate research, encourage discussion, and connect people interested in mathematics education. It identifies the Association of Mathematics Teachers (APM), the Brazilian Society for Mathematics Education (SBEM), and SEIEM among its partners.
