## Description

The Sociedade Portuguesa de Imunologia (SPI), or Portuguese Society of Immunology, is an organisation dedicated to supporting and promoting immunology in Portugal. It brings together members of the immunology community through membership resources, news, educational activities, scientific events and recognition of research. Its programme includes annual meetings, advanced immunology courses and specialist schools, as well as information about other national and international events. SPI also shares interviews, laboratory profiles, conference reports and perspectives on the history and development of immunology in Portugal.

The society supports professional development and research through travel grants, meeting sponsorship and awards, including the SPI Best Paper Award and the Arala Chaves Prize. Its website provides information about the organisation’s history, activities, board and governing bodies, alongside membership applications and renewal. SPI also offers public-facing educational resources on the immune system, vaccination and immunodeficiency warning signs, and has published information about SARS-CoV-2. Through its young SPI working group and related initiatives, the society encourages participation and awareness of immunology among researchers and the wider community.
