Sportmeets is an online service that aims to remove barriers to organizing recreational sports groups and help people find the right people to play with locally. Launched in public beta in May 2009 by two Slovak friends and sports enthusiasts, Miro and Peter, who met during their studies at the University of Glasgow, Sportmeets was born out of their experience running the university volleyball club and participating in various sports. They realized the time and effort required to set up a game or sporting event and the communication struggles and booking fee sharing problems that often arise.

Sportmeets provides innovative and practical tools for group organizers, coaches, and captains of all team sports to make recreational sports more enjoyable for everyone involved. It also helps individuals find and join local sports groups, partners, or events that match their interests and skill level. Additionally, Sportmeets offers ladder competitions and 1-on-1 matches for sports like squash, tennis, and badminton, enhancing the overall experience.

With features like achievement badges, sharing events on social media, and supporting friends in matches, Sportmeets aims to make sports fun and social. As a young brand, Sportmeets is continually looking to grow and welcomes user feedback and suggestions
