## Description

The Saudi Patient Safety Center (SPSC) is a national organization established in 2017 as the first center of its kind in the region. Launched as part of Saudi Vision 2030’s National Transformation and Health Sector Transformation programs, it works to improve safety across the healthcare system by promoting best practices and increasing awareness and knowledge of patient safety. Its priorities include strengthening safety governance, developing measurement and learning, empowering patients and communities, and leading improvement and innovation.

SPSC supports healthcare providers and the public through educational resources, training, seminars, patient safety alerts, and a dedicated learning platform. Its initiatives include collaboration with the World Health Organization on patient safety policies and strategies, including efforts to build capacity around global patient safety challenges and safer medication practices. The center also operates the National Patient Safety Award, presented annually since 2018 to recognize innovative projects that improve healthcare quality and safety across Saudi Arabia’s health sectors. Through these programs, research, and partnerships, SPSC seeks to help prevent harm and advance safer care.
