## Description

The Servicio de Salud Metropolitano Sur (SSMS) is a public health service in Chile that coordinates care across the southern Metropolitan Region. Its work is organized through a regional health network that includes primary care, emergency services and hospitals, helping residents understand where and how to access care. The SSMS website provides information about the network’s role, hospital services, care pathways, health programs, quality accreditation and patient guidance. It also shares health campaigns and resources on topics such as the Hospital Amigo initiative and Chile Crece Contigo.

The service supports public participation through community and local health councils, consultations, participatory public accounts, and an information, complaints and suggestions office. Its public information resources include transparency materials and frequently asked questions. The site also highlights initiatives involving member hospitals, such as activities at Hospital Barros Luco and Hospital Dr. Exequiel González Cortés. In addition, it provides guidance on public health programs, including access to guaranteed medicines through the Fondo de Farmacia.
