## Description

The Special Security Unit (SSU) is a specialized division of the Sindh Police, established on October 18, 2010, to strengthen security and counterterrorism capabilities in Sindh, Pakistan. Led by Deputy Inspector General of Police Dr. Maqsood Ahmed, the unit has evolved from protecting important personalities and vital installations to addressing broader security challenges. Its mission is to help people feel secure by combating terrorism and providing protection for critical sites and national and foreign dignitaries.

The SSU provides security services for designated high-profile individuals and supports public safety and law and order across the province. Its officers deliver protective measures and undertake demanding physical training to qualify for commando duties. The unit also offers career opportunities, with recruitment guided by merit, transparency, fairness, and non-discrimination. Through its website, the SSU shares information about its mission, services, media coverage, press releases, publications, and photo galleries. It also describes its corporate social responsibility work and public engagement.
