Most developer tools ask you to install things before you can build anything. StackBlitz started with a different question: what if the browser was enough?

Founded in 2017, StackBlitz set out to solve a problem every developer knows. Setting up a local environment is slow, brittle, and often the first reason someone gives up before writing a single line of code. The team believed there was a better way, and spent years proving it. The result was WebContainers: a WebAssembly-based operating system that runs entirely inside a browser tab, boots in milliseconds, and requires nothing to be installed on your machine.

It was an undeniably impressive technical achievement. Engineers at Google, Cloudflare, and Uber used it. Open source projects like SvelteKit built their interactive docs on top of it. Millions of developers passed through every month.
