About
Description
The Stanford Student Space Initiative (Stanford SSI) is Stanford's largest project-based student group, consisting of over 300 members divided into six project teams: Rockets, Satellites, Balloons, Mars, Biology, and Policy. Founded in 2013, Stanford SSI is entirely run by students, aiming to provide future leaders of the space industry with hands-on experience and a broader understanding to shape the next era of space exploration. Since its inception, Stanford SSI has achieved remarkable milestones, including breaking five world records in high altitude ballooning, successfully launching satellites into orbit, and developing a groundbreaking space-capable DNA synthesis technique.
The organization has also made a significant impact outside of the lab, sending a delegation to lobby the UN and winning international awards in rocketry challenges. In addition to their exciting projects, Stanford SSI hosts a range of events, such as workshops, talks, and social gatherings throughout the year. These events offer networking opportunities and foster a vibrant community passionate about space.
The organization relies on the support of their sponsors, which include Autodesk, Harwin BA Circuits, Altium, Keysight, GranSystems, Quanta, and Ansys, to continue their mission of educating the next generation of space industry leaders. If you're interested in joining a team or staying updated on Stanford SSI's latest developments, their website offers newsletters and a calendar of events. Join Stanford SSI and be part of pushing the boundaries of space exploration and inspiring the world to follow their dreams upwards and onwards
