## Description

Gedenkstätte Bautzner Straße Dresden is a profound memorial dedicated to the victims of political persecution during the Soviet occupation and the German Democratic Republic (DDR). This site serves as a place of remembrance, education, and dialogue, documenting the stories of those affected while preserving their legacies for future generations. The memorial conducts in-depth research into the historical context of the area, exploring the causes, structures, and impacts of authoritarian regimes, which informs its educational initiatives.

In addition to exhibitions and events, the Gedenkstätte offers diverse educational programs that emphasize fundamental and human rights, connecting historical insights to contemporary political and societal issues. Collaboration with a network of partner organizations, museums, and educational institutions across Germany and Central Eastern Europe enriches its outreach and engagement, particularly through the involvement of eyewitnesses to history. Visitors can explore the site through guided tours and interactive experiences, deepening their understanding of the region’s complex past.
