## Description

Stayton Fun Run is a community fitness event held each July 4 in Stayton, Oregon, as part of the town’s Old Time Fourth of July celebration. Established in 1983, it welcomes competitive runners, casual participants, and walkers, offering a friendly way to begin the holiday while supporting a local tradition. Event options include a 3K walk, 3K run, 5K trail run, and 10K trail run. Courses combine asphalt and cross-country surfaces, with maps available to help participants plan their route. The event starts at the Stayton Community Center and includes race-day registration, online and paper registration options, and ribbons for top male and female finishers in five-year age groups in the 5K and 10K races. The broader festival offers activities including parades, a community dinner, concerts, children’s games, food booths, and fireworks. All proceeds benefit Stayton Scout Troop 50, whose members contribute more than 250 community service hours each year. The event emphasizes accessible participation, community spirit, and an active start to Independence Day.
