## Description

SteamIndex is an online directory dedicated to preserving and exploring the rich history of railways in Britain and beyond. Founded by Kevin P. Jones, this platform is a treasure trove for railway enthusiasts, researchers, and historians, featuring a wide array of resources including bibliographies, magazine articles, patents, and indexes related to steam locomotives. Users can delve into comprehensive profiles of significant figures and organizations within the railway industry, as well as access a wealth of literature and periodicals that document the evolution of rail transport. The site categorizes information by various parameters, such as surnames, professional roles—including engineers, contractors, and enthusiasts—and geographical origins, making it easy to locate specific details. While the site’s format has been updated for modern viewing, it remains true to KPJ’s original vision, ensuring that the unique contributions of the railway sector are highlighted. SteamIndex serves as both an informative hub and a homage to the enduring legacy of steam locomotion.
