## Description

Stephanie Sy is a Filipino-Chinese-Canadian children’s author from Hong Kong whose picture books explore and celebrate the vibrant, in-between spaces of her multicultural identity. Her stories bring together themes of community, belonging, self-acceptance, tradition, and connection, often through playful premises and distinct points of view. A Roof!, illustrated by Daniel Tingcungco and published by Kokila, celebrates the Filipino bayanihan spirit and a community restoring a roof after a typhoon; it received a 2024 Freeman Book Award of Note recognition. You Can’t Tame a Tiger, illustrated by Julien Chung and published by Owlkids, explores identity and being unapologetically yourself. Jia Has a Dog Problem offers a humorous dual perspective on a child and dog who are each afraid of the other. Her forthcoming books include The Magnificent Banyan and the Green Tong Lau, a Hong Kong-set fable about community and urban nature, and a noodle-themed story due in 2027. Sy’s website also features information about visits and lectures, plus activities and discussion guides for readers and educators.
