# Stockholms Hästambulanser - **Website:** - **Primary alias:** `stockholmshastambulans.se` ## Description Stiftelsen Stockholms Hästambulans is a Swedish foundation dedicated to the safety and welfare of horses. Established in 1978, it has provided emergency transport for sick or injured horses in the greater Stockholm area, helping owners get them to veterinary hospitals and specialist clinics. The service is based at Solvalla racetrack in Bromma, and transports have commonly gone to Mälaren Hästklinik in Sigtuna or the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Uppsala. The foundation operates on a cost-recovery basis, with transport costs invoiced afterward; eligible journeys may be covered by a horse’s veterinary insurance, depending on the policy. Its emergency on-call service has been paused from 1 June 2025 until further notice because of very low demand and staffing constraints. However, competition coverage continues: the ambulance team attends all Solvalla race meetings and V75 and V86 events across Sweden throughout the year.
