## Description

Styrelsen for Patientklager is Denmark’s public authority for handling complaints about healthcare services and decisions. Its main responsibility is to review complaints concerning professional healthcare treatment within the Danish health system, helping patients understand their options and providing information about the complaint process. Patients can use the agency’s online guidance to identify the appropriate complaint form, submit a case and follow its progress. The agency also handles complaints relating to breaches of patient rights and decisions by the Danish Patient Compensation Association, and provides information about seeking access to case records.

Its work involves several specialist boards and appeal bodies, including the Danish Health and Care Complaints Board, the Psychiatric Appeals Board and the Abortion Board. The agency publishes decisions, practice summaries, reports and statistics to make its work and complaint procedures more accessible. It also provides guidance for healthcare professionals and treatment providers, including information about disciplinary cases, supervisory decisions and documentation requirements.
