Strangford Sailing Club, established in 1946, is a renowned RYA recognized Training Club situated on the beautiful shores of Castleward Bay, overlooking the stunning Strangford Narrows to Portaferry. The club offers a wide range of sailing products and services, catering to both seasoned sailors and beginners alike. They have an enthusiastic Junior Section that sails Toppers, Lasers & Optimists on Friday evenings and Sundays during the season. In addition to this, the club conducts training courses during school holidays, providing a comprehensive learning experience for aspiring sailors. The club has a rich history, starting with racing for Strangford Lough Fishing Punts in the late 1940s and evolving into the Wychcraft Class in the 1950s. Today, they boast a very active fleet of Flying Fifteens that compete at National and International events. The club's modern clubhouse and slipway, located in Seafront Rd, offer a comfortable and convenient base for members, while their sheltered anchorage is perfect for cruising enthusiasts.
