## Description

The National Resource for Network Biology (NRNB) advances the study of biological networks through open-source software, databases, visualizations, and computing resources. Its work supports researchers investigating connections among genes, proteins, drugs, cells, and other biological systems, with the goal of improving understanding of health and disease. NRNB builds on the Cytoscape network analysis platform and develops tools for assembling, visualizing, and analyzing biological data. Its resources include Cytoscape, Cytoscape.js, the Cytoscape App Store, cBioPortal, GeneMANIA, NDEx, WikiPathways, and Enrichment Map. Research projects explore methods such as network-based stratification of cancer patients and the construction of biological ontologies from molecular interaction data. NRNB also provides tutorials, courses, workshops, training events, and help desk assistance, and invites researchers and developers to collaborate on tools and biomedical applications. The resource was an NIH Biomedical Technology Research Center supported by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences from 2011 to 2025.
