## Description

Retra! Suito-sai is a community festival organized by the Suito-sai Executive Committee in Tokushima, Japan, celebrating the appeal of “the city of water.” The 2026 event is scheduled for July 17–19, with programs set around the Shinmachi River and Aibahama Park. Its three-day lineup combines entertainment, outdoor activities, food, and hands-on cultural experiences for visitors of different ages.

The festival opens with a family-friendly night fishing event and a candlelit riverside walk featuring around 1,000 candles. Saturday’s program includes stage performances, a karaoke competition, a fireworks display planned for 8 p.m., and activities in a water park, including a returning water-based obstacle course. Sunday features the main festival and a dance contest. Visitors can also enjoy food tents, food trucks, game stalls, kayak experiences, and workshops. A special indigo-dyeing activity invites participants to make a handkerchief or scarf, highlighting Tokushima’s “Japan Blue” tradition. The event is supported by local businesses and organizations, with schedules and activities subject to change or weather-related cancellation.
