## Description

The Summer Foundation is an Australian organisation working to improve housing and living options for people with disability who have high support needs and require 24/7 support. It identifies, develops and scales practical ideas that help people have greater choice about where they live, who they live with and how they are supported. Its work includes Building Better Homes, drop-in and on-call support, Individualised Living Arrangements, improving support in Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) apartments, and addressing the needs of younger people in aged care.

The Foundation also conducts research and contributes to policy development, providing evidence to inform better housing and support systems. Its research library, policy resources and Summer Disability Research Centre share findings on disability, housing, wellbeing and support. Through evidence-based advocacy, housing solutions and system reform, the organisation reports helping 7,500 young people avoid aged care. It pioneered the 10+1 model, contributing to more than 2,000 enrolled SDA apartments, and established the Housing Hub, which has supported over 1,200 people to find a home.
