## Description

Annie Mawson’s Sunbeams Music Trust is a registered charity based in Penrith, Cumbria, delivering community music therapy to disabled children and adults since 1992. Its mission is to help disadvantaged people improve their quality of life and self-esteem through the creative freedom of music.

The trust offers Music for Life®, a programme for children with special educational needs and disabilities, their families, and adults with disabilities or learning needs. It uses music as both a therapeutic and educational tool. Music for Dignity® supports adults living with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, and other deteriorating illnesses, using music to encourage memory recall and reminiscence. Sunbeams also provides outreach work.

At its bespoke Sunbeams Music Centre, the organisation offers spaces for hire, including the Glassical Hall, meeting rooms, and a professional recording studio. The centre hosts live events, and the trust invites people to volunteer, support its fundraising, join its mailing list, or make a donation. Together, these programmes and facilities bring music-based support and creative opportunities to communities across Cumbria.
