## Description

Sunnyside Records is an independent jazz label founded by Francois Zalacain in 1982. With no binding contracts and a love for all jazz styles, Sunnyside aims to release music that they personally enjoy. The label's logo, a girl in a sailor dress skipping rope, perfectly captures the lively and carefree spirit of their music. Sunnyside not only releases their own catalog but also licenses albums from European labels, ensuring that unique and hard-to-find music is available in the United States. Sunnyside values their relationship with their artists, which is more akin to an affair than a marriage, and many artists have been with the label for years. They seek out musicians who possess a unique voice and strive to bring diversity to their roster. Over the years, Sunnyside's dedication to the genre has been recognized, with Brazilian singer Luciana Souza's album earning a Grammy nomination in 2003. With a larger distribution network and licenses from international labels, Sunnyside continues to bring the best jazz music to listeners everywhere.
