## Description

Skcin, a national skin cancer and melanoma awareness charity in the UK, is dedicated to reversing alarming skin cancer statistics by promoting prevention and early detection within communities. Founded by the family of Karen Clifford, who lost her life to skin cancer in 2005, Skcin operates five specialized educational intervention programs aimed at embedding crucial skin cancer awareness in various sectors. Their initiatives, including the Sun Safe Nurseries accreditation program, focus on educating 'at risk' groups, from pre-school children to outdoor workers and healthcare professionals.

With approximately 90% of skin cancers preventable, Skcin emphasizes the importance of education in combating rising melanoma cases, which see 44 new diagnoses daily. By providing trusted resources and guidance, they empower schools and nurseries to create effective sun safety policies and engage the wider community in awareness efforts. Skcin strives to cultivate a future where safe sun practices are a fundamental part of upbringing, ultimately aiming for a significant reduction in skin cancer incidence across the UK.
