## Description

Suomen Perhekodit Oy is a Finnish, people-centred company focused on helping children who need support find safety and care within a family setting. Its work places the child at the centre and includes preparing and supporting foster families and support families.

The company offers individually tailored training for prospective foster families, with flexible scheduling and most sessions held in the family’s home at a mutually suitable time. It also provides information and guidance to people considering fostering, helping them understand the commitment involved in welcoming a child into their family for several years.

Support families offer practical help when a child’s household needs additional resources. The child continues to live at home and typically spends one weekend a month with the support family, giving parents time to rest while the child receives attentive adult company and enjoyable activities. Suomen Perhekodit also shares families’ experiences and information about professional family homes and the child’s journey into foster care.
