About
Description
The Society for Underwater Technology (SUT) is a renowned multidisciplinary learned society that brings together individuals and organizations with a shared interest in underwater technology, ocean science, and offshore engineering. Established in 1966, the SUT has a global presence with members from over 40 countries, including engineers, scientists, professionals, and students working in various fields. While the offshore hydrocarbon sector has historically been a significant contributor to the membership, the SUT now embraces professionals from offshore renewables, marine autonomous systems, policy and law sectors, and insurance sectors.
The society's primary aims are to promote a deeper understanding of the underwater environment, facilitate the exchange of ideas and information, develop techniques for ocean exploration and resource utilization, and support education in marine science and technology. The SUT covers a diverse range of interest areas, including diving and manned submersibles, marine environmental science, ocean resources, salvage and decommissioning, subsea engineering, and underwater robotics, among others. The SUT's dedicated team, including the Chief Executive Cheryl Burgess, Membership & Finance Officer Jane Hinton, Communications & Publications Officer Emily Boddy, and Events & Training Manager Jacqui Adams, ensures the smooth operation of the society's activities.
With its global reach and commitment to advancing underwater technology, the SUT serves as a leading authority in this field
