## Description

Sydney Women’s Baseball League (SWBL) is a community sports organisation based in Marrickville, Sydney, offering a friendly, social and LGBTQ+ inclusive baseball competition. Established in 1995, it is the longest-running league for women and LGBTQ+ community members in the Sydney metropolitan area. The league welcomes players from varied sporting backgrounds and encourages participation at every skill level, bringing people together for competition, connection and social events throughout the season.

SWBL’s season includes regular Sunday games at HJ Mahoney Memorial Park, with a grand final scheduled for late August. In 2026, the league has eleven teams and around 200 active members. Friends and families can also take part through social membership and non-playing roles such as umpiring, scoring and helping at the barbecue. Friday night training and Sunday games are supported by equipment funded through a 2025 NSW Government Local Sport Grant, including pitching machines, fielding trainers and backstop nets. The league also works with community partners and sponsors to help keep participation affordable and accessible.
