## Description

Southwestern Center for Independent Living (SWCIL) is a private, nonprofit, consumer-controlled, nonresidential, cross-disability organization serving people with disabilities in southwestern Minnesota. Its mission is to respond to changing needs while promoting societal acceptance, inclusion, and equal access. SWCIL provides individualized support for people of all ages, recognizing that independent living services are not one-size-fits-all.

Programs include independent living skills, relocation assistance, advocacy, information and referral, peer counseling, and independent living assessments. SWCIL also offers ramp services, including wooden modular ramps, low-rise steps, and temporary ramp rentals, as well as assistive technology such as audio-visual, physical, computer-based, and cognitive or learning aids. Additional offerings include Consumer Directed Community Supports (CDCS) support planning, Veteran Directed home- and community-based services, a WIOA program, and benefits coaching. The organization serves Cottonwood, Jackson, Lincoln, Lyon, Murray, Nobles, Pipestone, Redwood, Rock, and Yellow Medicine counties. SWCIL also shares community events, educational and social activities, newsletters, and resources to help people connect with its services and community.
