## Description

SWEAT (Sex Worker Education and Advocacy Taskforce) is South Africa’s premier organization dedicated to advocating for the rights of sex workers. Founded in 1994 by Shane Petzer and Ilse Pauw, SWEAT has been at the forefront of the movement to decriminalize sex work, providing crucial support for those in the profession. With a rich history spanning over 30 years, the organization has successfully established movements like the African Sex Worker Alliance (ASWA) and Sisonke, enhancing the visibility and rights of sex workers across South Africa.

SWEAT offers a range of services including community advice, legal assistance, and direct support through helplines. Their advocacy efforts focus on promoting human dignity and freedom for those who choose to engage in sex work. The organization also engages in research and public education, working tirelessly to change perceptions and policies surrounding sex work. Through various programs and outreach efforts, SWEAT aims for a society where sex workers can live and work safely, with respect and equal rights.
