Switchback is a twice-yearly business and education gathering for the outdoor industry community, bringing together outdoor specialty retailers, brands, media members, and industry organizations. Its events combine opportunities to discover products and connect with industry peers with educational sessions focused on retail and the outdoor business. Switchback Spring takes place in the spring, while Switchback at TRE is held in the fall. Upcoming events include Switchback at TRE, December 1–3, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas, and Switchback Spring, May 22–24, 2027, in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The organization offers event attendance and exhibitor opportunities, education programs, speaker sessions, exhibitor listings, and event information such as schedules, venue details, and hotel guidance. Its website also provides webinars, event news, photo galleries, and updates for attendees and exhibitors. Through Trailheads, an online resource, Switchback shares stories and insights addressing the needs, goals, and concerns of outdoor specialty retailers, brands, and organizations.
