## Description

The Synthetic Chemical Exposome Database (SynCED) is a bioinformatics resource for exploring information about synthetic chemicals and contaminants. Modelled after and closely linked to the Human Metabolome Database and DrugBank, SynCED brings together contaminant data collected from multiple online references and databases. It currently contains 316,418 compounds, covering chemicals from a broad range of sources, including IARC carcinogen groups, DrugBank drugs and metabolites, disinfection by-products, ToxCast and Tox21, and EPA, OSHA, ECHA, DEA and OECD collections. The database also includes information from T3DB, EAFUS and My Exposome Chemicals, among other sources.

Users can browse records by chemical or source, or explore SynCED’s taxonomy. Search tools support queries by chemical name, structure, molecular weight, molecular formula, toxicity, sequence and spectra. The site also provides downloads, documentation, statistics and information about related databases. SynCED is presented by the Wishart Research Group and supported by Canadian research and innovation organizations, including Genome Canada, Genome Alberta, CFI, NSERC and the Canada Research Chairs Program.
