## Description

Sysmän Säästöpankkisäätiö is a Finnish foundation based in Sysmä, established in 2020 when Sysmän Säästöpankki merged with Helmi Säästöpankki. Building on the savings bank’s 140-year history, the foundation aims to support local communities, especially in Päijät-Häme and southern Central Finland. It jointly owns Helmi Säästöpankki Oy with Padasjoen Säästöpankkisäätiö.

The foundation promotes thrift, financial education, learning and wellbeing, while supporting culture, science, economic development and the vitality of its region. It also works to strengthen savings bank operations and preserve their traditions. Its activities include awarding grants and scholarships, supporting relevant events, and funding research, education and other initiatives.

Individuals and non-profit organisations may apply for support for projects serving the public good; companies are not eligible. Applications are accepted continuously, must be submitted before a project begins, and are reviewed at board meetings held about four times a year. The foundation also accepts donations and testamentary gifts, which it invests according to its policy and directs toward grants and scholarships aligned with its mission.
